It’s important to take time out for ourselves and truly relax and de-stress. As part of the Aveda Mission to “care for the world we live in” rituals of renewal allow us to connect in a meaningful way through the power of touch, breath and aroma. Each ritual provides you with a sense of well being and an uplifting or relaxing effect. We have a few ideas for you to try at home.
Aveda Rituals at home
The stress-fix sleep ritual: six steps to better sleep:
Turn off all electrical devices 1-2 hours before bedtime. Run a bath while you perform some simple yoga or stretching movements to release tension in the body.
Add 2 tbsp of the sugar and mineral-rich stress-fix soaking salts to a tub filled with warm water. Soak for 20 minutes and take long deep calming breathes, breathing in the stress-fix aroma.
Moisturiser and take time to nurture your skin with a hydrating body lotion.
Meditate and take a moment to think of 3-5 things that you are grateful for.
Once in bed, inhale the stress fix concentrate and apply a small amount to your temples, wrists and under your nose. Close your eyes and focus on your breath and relax.
Follow the flow of inhalation and exhalation of the breath as you drift off to sleep.
Give yourself a scalp massage
Relax your breathing for three deep breaths. Then with light circular motions, invigorate the scalp with a paddle brush.
Softly apply hair oil to your scalp. Take a moment to deeply breathe in the aroma. Massage in a circular motion with your fingers. Concentrate on the 5 key pressure points.
Continue massaging along the side of your head, ending with your temples. Connect with your present self, taking note of how your fingers feel on your scalp.
Finish with a warm shower, shampoo and condition your hair.
